From Saturday 10 to Monday 12 October, Music Center the Netherlands will organise the Dutch Chamber Music Meeting 2009 in Amsterdam. Over a three-day period, Dutch musicians and ensembles will present themselves to a large number of international programmers by means of short concert performances.

Conference
Besides being a showcase festival, the 2009 Dutch Chamber Music Meeting is also a conference during which professionals from the field of classical music will debate current trends and developments.

This year particular attention will be focused on the globalisation of Western classical music. The development of a classical music market and a growing interest in this field are a particularly striking phenomenon in China, the Middle East, Brazil and South America. During the DCMM conference professionals from these regions will expound on the specific characteristics of these markets.

Besides welcoming professionals from abroad, the Dutch Chamber Music Meeting expressly opens its doors to participants from the Netherlands: musicians, ensembles, composers, programmers, media; in short, everyone who is professionally involved in the market for early, classical, modern and/or contemporary music. Consequently, the Dutch Chamber Music Meeting is the perfect place to establish new international contacts in 2009.

Program and location
The concerts presented by the DCMM will take place in the Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ, the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and the Bimhuis.

The programme has been compiled under the guidance of a number of Dutch programmers.

On Monday 12 October the DCMM programmes and the Chamber Music Day in the Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ will be linked together.
