Rules and Regulations
Amsterdam, 9 – 17 April 2011
The application deadline is 1st of November 2010.
The Competition is open to all instrumental and vocal soloists, duos and ensembles up to twelve performers (excluding conductor).

Conditions:
1. The Interpreters Competition is open to soloists or duo-members born after 25 April 1975. For ensembles the average age of the group members must not exceed 35 years. For vocalists the maximum age is 40.
2. The submitted program should include at least six (6) compositions and have a total duration of at least 60 minutes.
- At least two (2) compositions must be written using the traditional staff notation.
- Although all compositions must have been written after 1945, we would appreciate one (1) additional work, between 1900 and 1945.
- At least three (3) of the compositions must have been written in or after 2002.
- At least two (2) compositions must be written by a Dutch composer or a composer who resides in the Netherlands and is integrated in Dutch musical life.
- Next to the normal three prizes in the competition, there will be one special prize for a particepant (solo or ensemble) in the categorie organ and one in electric guitar.

- Composers Name
- Title of the composition
- Genre (B Chamber Music or C Vocal Music)
- Subgenre: instrumentation
- Number of Players
- Keywords (violin solo; string quartet; ensemble)
Most of the titles have a preview of the score for your orientation. If you want to order a composition you can make a choice between a PDF (3 types) or a hard copy. Now you register by filling in the registration form or you log in if you are already registered. After you click "checkout" you must confirm your data two times by clicking "continue" and after you have clicked "confirm order", you will have three ways to pay your order on line. Upon registration in April 2011 in Amsterdam you will receive 20% on the total total sum in cash back of all your orders up to November 1, 2010.

If you have any questions please contact our department.3. For ensembles it is required that all members of the ensemble participate in at least three compositions. It is required of duos that their program consists entirely of works for duos.
4. Programs must be submitted before November 1st, 2010. In case there are too many applications, there will be a pre-selection.
5. The program must reflect the quality and versatility of contemporary music. The jury has the right to refuse programs, which are considered to be below the standard of the competition.
6. All participants should use their own instrument, except for piano, organ, harp, harpsichord and a limited number of percussion instruments. These instruments will be provided, but have to be shared by all participants during rehearsals and performances.

Soloists must provide their own accompanist.
A limited number of rehearsal rooms are available at the Amsterdam Conservatory.
7. Please note that if your submitted work includes live electronics, the set-up time in the performance hall is limited to 20 minutes. This time limit is necessary because of the large number of participants. Furthermore the available electronic equipment is limited, so please check with us beforehand as you may need to bring your own equipment with you. Although a technician will be at hand, you must be prepared to set up your equipment without extensive help.
We provide:
- stereo PAmixer (8-channel)
- cd-player
- DAT-recorder
- two microphones
8. Registration is on Saturday April 9th, before the start of the competition. Every musician - or at least one member of every ensemble - needs to be present at this registration. At this registration, three (3) copies of each score listed on your program must be admitted to the jury’s secretary. These scores will be returned after the performances. After the registration a schedule of the first round will be made and announced.
10. Each competitor of the third and final round will receive a certificate.
The following prizes will be awarded:
- First prize: € 4,500
- Second prize: € 2,250
- Third prize: € 1,125
- Special prizes: € 2,250
11. The verdict of the jury is final and not subject to debate.
12. The entry fee is:
€ 30 for soloists, with or without accompanist
€ 40 for duos
€ 50 for ensembles.

13. All competitors have to provide their own accommodation. Information on accommodation can be requested from the V.V.V., Tourist Information Office in Amsterdam, at www.vvvamsterdam.nl.
