Appointment for Richard Rijnvos

Dutch composer Richard Rijnvos has been appointed Head of Composition in the Music Department at the University of Durham (UK)

Durham University's music department is one of the leading centres for the study of music in Britain. The international staff comprises of musicologists, composers and performers, who are leading figures in their fields.

The department offers expertise in a notably diverse range of areas, including early music, 19th and 20th-century music, new music, electroacoustic music, performance, composition, ethnomusicology, analysis, aesthetics and cultural/critical theory.

According to the latest University League Table 2010, published by The Complete University Guide, Durham is ranked 5th in the UK.

Rijnvos will start at Durham on the 1st of October.
