National and international promotion of music also means creating opportunities where professionals can meet and listen to the latest music. For this reason Music Center the Netherlands organizes and supports special music projects in the Netherlands and abroad, varying from contemporary thematic music festivals to lectures, masterclasses and exchange programs.
Toonzetters

The fourth edition of the annual Toonzetters event will take place during the Holland Festival, at the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ. Toonzetters is a collaboration between Music Center the Netherlands, Buma Cultuur and the Holland Festival.

Gaudeamus Music Week
September 4-12, 2011
Each year in the first week of September, the contemporary department at MCN presented a cross section of the latest developments in the global village of contemporary music at this world renowned festival. The major event of the Gaudeamus Music Week is the competition for young composers. In 2010 The Gaudeamus Musi Week moved to Utrecht.

November Music
November Music is a five-day festival, presenting 40 or 50 different productions in different locations. Churches, concert halls, theatres. Throughout the year, November Music also organizes concerts in places like museums. MCN organizes various promotional activities during November Music.
Electro-acoustic music
Like NEAR (formerly the Centre for Dutch electro-acoustic music), Donemus and Gaudeamus, the contemporary music department of Music Center the Netherlands promotes Dutch electro-acoustic music.

Klanken aan 't IJ
International artists will combine visual arts and technology to create extraordinary sound art installations. Everyday items such as bottles, pans and shoes will be converted into amazing works of art and give rise to a whole new sound experience.

International Young Composers' Meeting in Apeldoorn
The Young Composers' Meeting is organised with the orchestra 'de ereprijs' in association with the composition competition of the International Gaudeamus Music Week and takes place in cultural center Gigant in Apeldoorn.
