"Electro-acoustic music" is a term for many trends are in art music where the use of electronics is essential to the composition and performance. Take electronic music, musique concrète, acousmatic music, live-electronics, sound art, radio art, installations, etc.
Following all kinds of early attempts to incite the development of this music internationally, in the 1950’s it really took off.
Electro-acoustic music is an independent discipline within contemporary art music but there are plenty of cross overs with other genres and art forms.
