Program International Gaudeamus Music Week

6-12 September 2010 - Amsterdam

Each year in the first week of September, the contemporary department at  MCN presents a cross section of the latest developments in the global village of contemporary music at this world renowned festival. The major event of the Gaudeamus Music Week is the competition for young composers.

From August 14 to September 12 there will be an exhibition of sound installations by Hans van Koolwijk in the Atrium at the Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ. His new Klankkaatser (‘Sound Reverberator’) will be part of it. Within this installation of nine meters sounds are bouncing from wall to wall, around the ears of the listeners. Read more>>

There will be presentations by Christina Oorebeek on the history of the player piano and her own work for the Disklavier, by Frank Baldé (software programmer STEIM) on using alternative controllers with STEIM's junXion software in combination with the Disklavier, and by Luc Houtkamp on pitch recognition and its use with the Disklavier.
