Project Young Composers

Music Center the Netherlands presentents in collaboration with the Holland Symfonia the 19the edition of the Project Young Composers

Holland Symfonia has requested young composers to send a score of an orchestral work for this competition.

From those entries a jury has selected a number of works which will be performed by the Holland Symfonia under the direction of Etienne Sieben on Saturday, September 12, 2009.  This will take place during the International Gaudeamus Music Week in the MuziekGebouw aan ‘ t IJ in Amsterdam.

The nominated composers will compete for the following prizes:

  • The young Composer Prize (€ 4.000)
  • The Incentive Prize(€ 1.500)
  • The Public Prize (in association with Music Center the Netherlands)(€ 1.000)


The jury this year consists of, among others, Jan Pieter Koch, artistic coordinator of the Holland Symfonia and Esther Probst, first oboist from this orchestra.
For the final the jury will also include the jury of the International Gaudeamus Music Week; Julia Wolfe, Huba the Graaff, Akira Nishimura.
