De Jazzdag (The Jazz Day ), Rotterdam: 24 June 2011
The Jazz Day marks the kick off of two weeks of jazz music in Rotterdam, with North Sea Round Town and the North Sea Jazz Festival.
The Jazz Day is the network event for all those involved in the Dutch jazz world. This day consists of a conference and a showcase program. The showcase program is part of North Sea Round Town.
During the conference, program experts from several disciplines handle current developments and questions within the national and international jazz sector in various panels, presentations, lectures and workshops. Subjects include, among others, music promotion, strategies to successfully export music internationally, income models in jazz and (future) possibilities of exploitation by means of Internet. Additionally an important component of the jazz day is bringing together supply and demand. Via a matchmaking program participants get the chance to network with national and international jazz professionals and musicians. Moreover an information market creates the possibility of making contact with booking bureaus and management offices, recording labels, copyright organizations and festivals.
During the showcase program, one of the features of North Sea Round Town, 25 (rising) jazz groups will present themselves in LantarenVenster and Hotel New York to music fans and professionals. The showcase program is open to the public.
The Jazz Day is organized by Buma Cultuur and is an initiative of Buma Cultuur and the foundation JazzNL.
MCN is in attendance with a stand on the Jazz Day and is also involved in a number of seminars.
