Dutch Jazz & World Meeting
Note: The deadline for musical acts to register for the showcases was June 1, which means it is no longer possible to register.
The conditions for being considered as a possible selection in the showcase program were as follows:
* The group offers a coherent program;
* The group is (largely) based in the Netherlands;
* The group has concrete and realistic international ambitions;
* The group offers a demonstrably professional live performance;
* The group has a demonstrably professional organizational form;
* The group regularly performs together, and is thus not a “one-off” band;
* The group can furnish sufficient and convincing promotional material;
* International experience is recommended.
The showcase program of the Dutch Jazz & World Meeting has been put together by independent music programmers: Huub van Riel (Bimhuis), Sander Grande (North Sea Jazz Festival / Mojo Concerts), Frans Goossens (Melkweg / Amsterdam Roots Festival), and Danka van Dodewaard (Rasa). On the basis of the above-mentioned criteria, they selected the most promising groups.
International guests have been invited on the basis of the following criteria:
* Priority was given to bookers from festivals and venues with a considerable (inter)national reputation; secondary consideration was given to intermediaries (agents, press, foundations), followed by freelance producers;
* The main countries considered were the “focus countries” of the MCN as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
* Having already worked with, or having indicated a desire to work with, Dutch jazz and/or world music acts;
* Dutch organizations abroad with an enhanced cultural function (embassies, consulates) were asked to make suggestions;
* Partner organization and selected musicians were asked to nominate guests (with whom they have had good experiences);
* In addition, the international field has been informed about the DJWM 2010 via mailings and press releases so that they can register as participants.
