Music thesis prize
Music Thesis Prize Regulations
Article 1
Beginning in 2009, MCN will award an annual Music Thesis Prize. This prize will go to the author of the best final thesis on music or musical culture in the broadest sense written for graduation in the previous school year from a Dutch HBO institute or university.
Article 2
The thesis must be:
- an original, independently written, previously unpublished work composed as a final thesis by a student of a Dutch HBO institute or university during the 2010-2011 school year;
- on a topic related to music or musical culture in the broadest sense;
- written in Dutch or English;
- submitted with a dated copy of its certification of acceptance by the institute from which the author was graduating;
- accompanied by the full name and address, incl. an up to date e-mailaddress of the author and the institute concerned, and the author’s major;
- received by MCN no later than December 31, 2011;
- submitted in digital format, and also in a paper version;
- accompanied by a synopsis of no more than 1,000 words.
Article 3
The directors of MCN will name an independent jury that will select the winner.
- The jury will be supported by the secretarial office of MCN’s Music Information Center.
- The decision will be made by majority vote, with the secretary having no vote. In the event of a tie, the chairman will decide.
Article 4
The winner will be awarded € 500,
Article 5
- Submitted theses will be included in the MIC collection.
- Thesis submitters will protect MCN from any claims from third parties of violation of author’s rights.
Article 6
In any cases not covered by the regulations, the directors of MCN will decide.
