The Competition is open to all instrumental and vocal soloists, duos and ensembles up to twelve performers (excluding conductor).
You can download a pdf-file with all participants and their programs up to this time and a list of all Dutch composers and their works as part of their program.

The schedule of the competition is as follows:
Registration: Sunday, April 10, 2011, between 11 am and 1 pm in the Conservatory of Amsterdam followed by the announcement of the performance-schedule.
1st round: April 11 to 14, Conservatory of Amsterdam and for organ in the Orgelpark, 9am to 5pm
2nd round: April 15 and 16, Conservatory of Amsterdam and for organ in the Orgelpark, 9am to 5pm
Final: April 17, Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, 8.15 pm

In the first round all participants perform about 15 minutes of music, selected from the program by the jury.
Those who go on to the second round will play in two sessions of 15 minutes each, one on Friday (works selected by the participants), the other on Saturday (works selected by the jury. Both rounds are open and free for the public.

The five finalists will all perform about 10 minutes of music, selected by the jury.
Five prizes will be awarded: First prize: € 4,500, Second prize: € 2,250, Third prize: € 1,125 and 2 special prizes of € 2,250 for organ  and electric guitar.

Every musician - or at least one member of every ensemble - needs to be present at the registration where three (3) copies of each score listed on your program must be admitted to the jury’s secretary. These scores will be returned after your last performance. After the registration a schedule of the first round will be made and announced.

All competitors have to provide their own accommodation. If you cannot find it through Amsterdam Tourist Board website you can try Asterisk HotelHortus Hotel and of course the hostels or more luxerious Ibis Amsterdam City Stopera.

conditions:

  1. The Interpreters Competition is open to soloists or duo-members born after 25 April 1975. For ensembles the average age of the group members must not exceed 35 years. For vocalists the maximum age is 40.

  2. The submitted program should include at least six (6) compositions and have a total duration of at least 60 minutes.

    • At least two (2) compositions must be written using the traditional staff notation.
    • At least three (3) of the compositions must have been written in or after 2002.
    • At least two (2) compositions must be written by a Dutch composer or a composer who resides in the Netherlands and is integrated in Dutch musical life.
    • Although all compositions must have been written after 1945, we would appreciate one (1) additional work, between 1900 and 1945 extra.
    • Next to the normal three prizes in the competition, there will be one special prize for a participant (solo or ensemble) in the categorie organ and one in electric guitar.
    To help you in choosing compositions from the Netherlands you can go to our Webshop for titles and previews where you can search on:

    • Composers Name
    • Title of the composition
    • Genre (B Chamber Music or C Vocal Music)
    • Subgenre: instrumentation
    • Number of Players
    • Keywords (violin solo; string quartet; ensemble)

    Most of the titles have a preview of the score for your orientation. If you want to order a composition you can make a choice between a PDF (3 types) or a hard copy. Now you register by filling in the registration form or you log in if you are already registered. After you click "checkout" you must confirm your data two times by clicking "continue" and after you have clicked "confirm order", you will have three ways to pay your order on line. Upon registration in April 2011 in Amsterdam you will receive 20% on the total total sum in cash back of all your orders up to December 1, 2010.

  3. For ensembles it is required that all members of the ensemble participate in at least three compositions. It is required of duos that their program consists entirely of works for duos.

  4. All participants should use their own instrument, except for piano, organ, harp, harpsichord and a limited number of percussion instruments. These instruments will be provided, but have to be shared by all participants during rehearsals and performances.

    A limited number of rehearsal rooms are available at the Amsterdam Conservatory.

    Please note that if your submitted work includes live electronics, the set-up time in the performance hall is limited to 20 minutes. This time limit is necessary because of the large number of participants. Furthermore the available electronic equipment is limited, so please check with us beforehand as you may need to bring your own equipment with you. Although a technician will be at hand, you must be prepared to set up your equipment without extensive help.

    - two microphones

  5. Registration is on Sunday April 10th
  6. Each competitor of the third and final round will receive a certificate.
  7. The verdict of the jury is final and not subject to debate.
